On the occasion of Design Miami/ Paris, the Galerie Gastou, in collaboration with Galerie Desprez-Bréhéret, is proud to take home the prize of Best Booth in the fair, a celebration for their presention of a collection of historical furniture created by Jean Touret for the Artisans of Marolles.

Touret’s art, marked by his deep commitment to craftsmanship and the importance of manual labor, is characterized by a minimalist approach that highlights the intrinsic beauty of natural materials and exceptional craftsmanship. Each piece reflects an aesthetic pursuit where simplicity reveals the essence of the materials.

In addition to his personal creations, Jean Touret also served as the artistic director of the Artisans of Marolles, a collective of talented artisans he united around his vision. Their collaboration gave birth to brutalist masterpieces, where every meticulously crafted detail demonstrates unparalleled artisanal mastery.

This exhibition will take place at Hôtel de Maisons, a historic Parisian mansion that once belonged to the illustrious fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld. The opulent setting, with its gilded ornaments, sculpted fireplaces, and refined cornices, will create a striking contrast with the refined elegance of Touret’s furniture and the collaborative works of the Artisans of Marolles.
