Vision: Monique Rozanès

Originally trained as a painter at the École des Arts Décoratifs, Rozanès was drawn early on to texture, relief, and the materiality of painting. Her thick, burned canvases evolved into experiments with resin after a formative internship at Saint-Gobain, where she discovered the possibilities of industrial materials. Seeking to preserve the fragile beauty of her painted surfaces, she began working with polyester and eventually transitioned into sculptural bas-reliefs.
The shift to sculpture came first with her exploration of the sphere — initially a form added to canvases, then freed into space. The discovery of Altuglas, a crystal-clear acrylic, was a turning point. It offered the transparency and purity she sought, allowing her to channel light and color into her forms. Her sculptures became not solid objects, but living, luminous presences, always changing with their environments.
Inspired by her travels in Mexico and South America, Rozanès began creating stelae — totemic forms she saw as silent, benevolent guardians. Her work deepened through encounters with sacred architecture, Tao philosophy, and the teachings of painter Léo Torres Agüero, her partner, who introduced her to the idea of art as energy transmission. For Rozanès, creation is a form of connection: receiving, erasing the self, and sculpting from within.
