Contes de Brume (Tales of Mist)
2 April – 6 June 2026
Mists fray, transform, and reconstitute themselves endlessly. They are fluid and elusive, at once apparitions and dissolutions, mirages and shadows, illusions and phantasmagorias. Behind these shifting veils, lines blur, forms waver and scenes emerge for a moment before they vanish. With “Contes de brume (Tales of mist)”, Agnès Debizet offers an initiatory journey into the heart of an oneiric world, made of passages and thresholds. The works evoke a journey of no return, an inner odyssey during which one takes care never to look back.
Between sky, water and earth, the gaze traverses mental landscapes recalling as much the planetary spaces of Le Petit Prince as the symbolic gardens of courtly love, or the fabulous quests of fairy tales, shod in seven-league boots. Debizet’s sculptures emerge in these uncertain zones where everything is gently fracturing. They embody a state of transition, a moment suspended between apparition and erasure. Nothing is ever fully fixed: neither meaning, nor form, nor destination.
For the artist, creation is born precisely from this unstable border. She often evokes art as a parallel world, more habitable than the real, yet whose confrontation with reality remains demanding, almost painful. Between these two universes, the boundary is never clear: it is porous, sometimes fractured, riddled like a sieve letting currents pass through — to the place where dreams and chimeras live. This tension runs through the entirety of the exhibition. At the junction of mists, between sculpture and object, between decorative and contemporary art, between function and freedom, something always cracks. And in that fissure, a fragile beauty appears.
